Fred Hollows

1929 - born in New Zealand

2005 - more then 60 health services in Australia

1976-1978 -  teams screened 100,000 people, 60% of whom were of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage

1980 - treating avoidable eye disease and was soon travelling all over the world

1989 - set about ensuring the dream would stay alive

1992 -  Foundation was established

Maureen Watson

1931  -  born in Rockhampton in central Queensland

1970  - moved to Brisbane

1980   - her first collection and poems were published

1996 -  was awarded the Australia council Red ocher award 

2009 - died in Murri School , Acasia Ridge, Brisbane
